United have a favourable run of fixtures at home that could see the club see the best of Ronaldo

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might be breathing a sigh of relief after a quick glance at the fixture list. It comes after Manchester United’s embarrassing loss to Young Boys in the Champions League.

United have a favourable run of fixtures at home that could see the club see the best of Ronaldo over the coming weeks.

After losing to Young Boys in the Champions League in shoddy fashion, it is the perfect antidote to help Solskjaer fend off the resulting pressure.

The Swiss side inflicted a 2-1 defeat on the Red Devils to continue their awful form in the competition under the Norwegian’s guidance.

With 10 seconds left of extra time, Jesse Lingard – who came on for Ronaldo – attempted a lazy pass back to his goalkeeper David de Gea.

It gave the alert Theoson Siebatcheu the simple task of netting past the Spaniard to hand Young Boys the three points in embarrassing fashion for the Red Devils.

Solskjaer has come under some intense pressure for his decision-making as a result but can bounce back with some favourable fixtures.

Over the next five games, United will play at Old Trafford on four times – the toughest is coming up next in the shape of West Ham away though.

If they can come through that game unscathed, the Red Devils will then take on the Hammers again but at home and in the Carabao Cup.

On 25 September, they will face Aston Villa before hosting Villarreal in the Champions League and then Everton that weekend before the international break.

For Ronaldo, that is a huge boost as it is at Old Trafford where the 36-year-old can come alive.

The five-time Ballon d’Or feeds on the crowd’s energy – of which there will be an abundance following his return.

United fans have not stopped singing his name since the announcement of his return and that will not die down for some time yet.

And Ronaldo remains in tremendous shape and is raring to go, meaning these early fixtures are the perfect chance for Solskjaer to unleash the footballing legend.

It means the Red Devils can go into these next five games as hot favourites that will keep the doubters at bay – for another month at least.
