Liverpool make contact over 15-year-old Brazilian striker who’s playing at U20 level

Liverpool are looking into a transfer for Brazilian striker Endrick, according to reports. There’s plenty of competition for the teenager.

This comes from Yahoo Sports. They claim that Liverpool are among several elite clubs hoping to sign Endrick from Palmeiras.

The 15-year-old currently looks like a revelation in Brazil. Despite his age, he’s featuring at the ‘Copinha’ – a youth championship in Brazil for Under 20s.

That’s impressive enough, let alone the fact that Endrick scored twice on his debut in the competition as Palmeiras won 6-1 over Assu. You can see how the hype is going to grow here.

Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Manchester United are all rivalling Liverpool for this transfer, however. These clubs have ‘made contact’ over a potential signing, as have Flamengo – the biggest club in Brazil. Endrick has no intention of moving there, though.

Any club that wants Endrick has a real opportunity, too, as he doesn’t have a professional contract. Rules surrounding signing players from Brazil are complicated – usually, you can’t complete a transfer for a player Under 18 – but this might be a way around that.

Liverpool consider Endrick transfer

Signing young Brazilian players always carries a level of excitement, of course. You look at Real Madrid’s success with Vinicius Jr, in particular, and it’s easy to imagine the next youngster becoming the next big thing.

Endrick, though, is still just 15. There’s a long, long way to go before getting truly excited by the prospect – even if he is shining well above his age right now.

However, if his lack of professional contract really does create an unusual opportunity here, we imagine Liverpool will try and make this happen. He can sign professional terms at 16 and that would rule out an arrival for at least another two years.

Honestly, that might still be the case now – we’re not entirely sure on the specifics of the rule – but if the chance is there, Endrick to Liverpool is one to watch.

We know they have eyes on Brazil, after all. They signed Marcelo Pitaluga last year, while Liverpool reportedly tried to sign Rodrygo Goes before Real Madrid.
