Find out why Paul Merson is concerned about Manchester City.

All the most recent Football news. On Wednesday, London Chelsea made headlines with important updates on Raheem Sterling, Jules Kounde, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Hakim Ziyech.

Raheem Sterling could become Todd Boehly’s first signing later this week, as the Blues ramp up their plans to sign at least two players before the squad departs for the United States on July 9.

Despite calls for Man City to reconsider selling the Three Lions International, nothing has changed as a £45m plus £10m add-ons deal is set to be announced in the near future.

Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has backed the signing as a good addition for Thomas Tuchel’s side but is concerned about the impact it will have on the reigning Premier League Champions.

“I think Sterling is a good signing, I’d worry about Man City selling Sterling, you’re selling a lot of goals, people go to me and say ‘he’s always at the far post tapping them in,’ he’s not pushing anybody out the way to tap them goals in,” he said on Sky Sports.

“There’s an art to what he does, and he’d be a huge miss for Man City, and if Chelsea got him, that’d be a major signing, especially when you’re getting a quality international player from one of the top teams in football, and getting him to Chelsea is a major signing.”

Barcelona appear to have shifted their focus away from Chelsea target Jules Kounde, seemingly against Xavi’s wishes, because the club believes a certain defender outside of La Liga would be a’smarter’ investment.

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, the Catalans believe Monaco’s Benoit Badiashille makes more sense in the long run because he is left-footed and will cost a fraction of what their La Liga counterparts are asking.

This will irritate Sevilla director Monchi, who kept everyone updated on what was going on with their number 23, who was set for a dream Premier League move until Marina Granovskaia left the club.
