A Player “confirms” Chelsea transfer before official announcement

Wesley Fofana, a defender for Leicester City, responded to Gary Lineker’s statement on social media by essentially confirming his move to Chelsea.

The transfer fee for the 21-year-old has reportedly been agreed upon by Chelsea and Leicester City, according to a number of sources, including Italian transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano.

The French center-back is expected to cost the Blues up to £75 million, including add-ons. While this is still an outrageous sum, it is less than the £80 million Manchester United paid for Harry Maguire.

However, Lineker argued that Chelsea has acquired such a jewel for the amount they paid.

“Gutted to lose him, but wish Wesley Fofana well,” the former England international wrote on Twitter.

“Every player wants to play Champions League football, so it’s understandable.

“Chelsea fans, you’ve got the most prodigiously talented young central defender in the world. Yes, I believe he’s that good.”

While neither club have confirmed the transfer, Fofana himself surprisingly responded to Lineker’s tweet, pretty much announcing the imminent move.

Chelsea and Leicester are facing each other at Stamford Bridge this afternoon, but Fofana has understandably been left out of the Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
