Rodgers Updates On Evans’ Availability For Man City Test

Leicester City’s medical staff will keep an eye on Jonny Evans’ condition in the days leading up to Saturday’s match against Manchester City.

– Brendan Rodgers has provided a fitness update on his Leicester City squad
– Jonny Evans’ calf issue will be assessed by the Club’s medical team this week
– The Foxes host Manchester City at King Power Stadium on Saturday
– Wilfred Ndidi is also back in training after a hamstring issue

The Foxes captain has been absent for three games with a calf issue. Leicester has also been without Wilfred Ndidi (hamstring) since the 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest earlier this month, while Marc Albrighton (illness) returned in the 4-0 victory at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ndidi has returned to training for the Foxes, who welcome Pep Guardiola’s Man City to King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Saturday (12:30 pm BST kick-off). The Foxes have won their last two, also overcoming Leeds United on home soil, before the success at Molineux.

“In terms of the squad, we’ll keep an eye on Jonny over the next few games,” manager Brendan Rodgers said on Thursday. “Wilfred Ndidi has returned to training with the team.” The most important thing is that he is back in the squad and appears to be fine with the players.

“Availability is critical, and he’s thankfully available. Marc Albrighton was clearly present last weekend. “Everything is fine.”

With players close to returns from injury, coinciding with an upturn in Leicester’s form, Rodgers is enthusiastic that his side will benefit.

“It’s a nice [problem] to have because, if we’ve got players in form playing well, that’s what you want,” the Northern Irishman added.

“Then, when you’ve got players coming back, it gives you a better choice. The guys have been great and it’s very important to have a bench that can affect the game. All they can do is train well and we’ll pick a team and a plan that we think can get a result.”
