Arsenal is ready to make to an offer for Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao but could face competition from Tottenham, who are also ‘willing to put up €15m for his signature.
That’s according to Tutto Udinese, who says the London rivals are ready to compete for the Brazilian in January.
They cover the player today amid growing concern around him at Udinese, where he hasn’t been seen in over a month.
Some believe it is to do with his stalled contract negotiations, with the Italian club having taken a hard-line stance on similar situations in the past and sent players to the stands until they sign up.
Tutto Udinese insists that isn’t the case, though, and he has instead been battling a nagging flexor injury that he and the club’s staff elected not to take any risks with.
He will be back after the international break but that does not resolve his contract situation, which is something of a ‘thorny question’ at the club.
Udinese has already presented the player with an offer, but he wants a higher salary as a reflection of the important role he’s played in the side in recent years.
That’s seen a halt in negotiations, with both parties having ‘stopped talking to each other for the time being and ‘postponing everything’ until the New Year.
In the meantime, there is no shortage of offers being made, especially in the Premier League were Arsenal and Tottenham are said to be ‘willing to put up €15m’ to get him.
They were both linked in the summer transfer window but ultimately signed other players but have seemingly not given up their interest as yet.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham know that Gino Pozzo, Udinese’s owner, will be forced to sell if a new contract isn’t signed and are seemingly looking to take advantage of that fact.
