As Fabio Paratici finally gets his man, a transfer expert believes a £60 million Tottenham signing ‘will happen next summer.’

According to transfer expert Dean Jones, Tottenham will make a move for Everton winger Anthony Gordon next summer.

Spurs and London rivals Chelsea were heavily linked with the Toffees winger last summer when Gordon would have cost around £60 million.

However, the 21-year-old stayed at Goodison Park and has been a key player for Frank Lampard’s side this season.

Gordon has started 11 of the club’s 14 Premier League outings and has scored three times so far.

But according to Jones, there is a strong chance that this season will be his last on Merseyside.

Indeed, the reporter claims that Tottenham will reignite their efforts to sign the talented forward.

Jones told GiveMeSport when asked about the chances of Gordon moving to north London: “I think it will happen next summer.

“Obviously, Everton wants to tie him down to another contract and get him secured. But, the player, has to map out his own future.

“If he’s going to stay at Everton, they’ve got to show real ambition between now and May.”

So far this season, Gordon has not quite reached the heights of the last campaign. Along with his three goals, he has yet to register an assist for his teammates.

Gordon a luxury signing for Tottenham

At £60m Anthony Gordon would be a luxury signing for Tottenham in a position they are well stocked in.

The Everton man tends to play off the left wing but there is no way he would start ahead of Son Heung-min in that role.

Spurs can also use Richarlison out wide and also have Dejan Kulusevski, who they are keen to sign on a permanent deal.

There could be a need for squad additions, given that Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil may well leave. However, having already spent that sort of money on Richarlison, who is not guaranteed a start when Son and Kulusevski are available alongside Harry Kane, it’s highly unlikely Daniel Levy will part with that sort of money for another squad player.

That £60m would be better spent on a world-class center-back or attacking midfielder – two positions desperately in need of filling.

Having started the season looking solid at the back, Conte’s men have been letting goals in for fun lately.

Center-backs likely on Conte’s radar

They continually concede the first goal in games due to their tactics to sit back and counter. And if Conte wants to continue playing that way then it could be argued that two new central defenders are potentially needed.

Eric Dier’s form has dipped alarmingly, while Clement Lenglet has hardly made a massive impact. Ben Davies was the best of the back three in the 4-3 win over Leeds, but that isn’t saying much.

Conte badly misses the presence of the combative Cristian Romero. However, the Argentine cannot be relied upon with his current injury issues.

In terms of a midfield playmaker, Leicester’s James Maddison remains the perfect signing. But with the Foxes wanting in excess of £60m, Spurs may well have to look elsewhere.

Atalanta star Ruslan Malinovskyi is also known to be on their radar and a deal could be done at a bargain price in January, given the player is out of contract next summer.

The World Cup break means Tottenham are not back in action until Boxing Day when they take on Brentford.
