Maddison injury update and Leicester star talks infamous casino visit

Leicester City’s James Maddison has provided his own injury update, as well as discussed an infamous casino visit.

When the Leicester City star was injured early in the game against West Ham United in the final Premier League match before the World Cup and was forced to withdraw, the Blue Army and Three Lions supporters held their collective breath. Following informal petitions from supporters across the country, the prominent attacking midfielder had just been called back up to represent his country in the tournament.

Thankfully the issue wasn’t too serious, and the ex-Norwich City footballer was on the plane to Qatar with the rest of the squad and staff. In fact, at a press conference this week, the 25-year-old gave details on his problem. Maddison revealed that he had a scan, with positive results. In addition, he said he should be fit for selection, but he has missed a training session.

Leicester City’s James Maddison talks infamous casino visit attributed to England’s omission

During the playmaker’s England National Team presser, he was asked all matters of questions. Some about the tournament and how the training facilities are etcetera. As ever, Maddison was charming and insightful; his interviews are well-known for their entertainingly candid and down-to-earth value.

Many people were previously under the impression that ‘Madders’ served some kind of sentence imposed by Gareth Southgate’s supposed kangaroo court. Yet it appears that the infamous ‘casino incident’ timeline was confused, at the very least.

You see, Fox explained that the situation was misinterpreted by the media, or even concocted to a certain degree. Basically, Maddison pulled out of a Three Lions outing in October 2019, though he was seen out gambling soon after. Although he pointed out that he was actually capped after that all took place. While Maddison wouldn’t divulge more details about the event or his standing with the international boss afterward, he proclaimed it ‘no big deal for the former Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, and Crystal Palace professional.
