Tottenham ace has told Redknapp he loves playing with £100m star Levy tried to sign in 2018

Harry Redknapp has told The Sun that Tottenham striker Harry Kane has told him that he enjoys playing alongside Manchester City playmaker Jack Grealish – a player who Daniel Levy attempted to sign while at Aston Villa in 2018.

Kane and Grealish will be preparing for Monday’s World Cup opener against Iran, but it is likely that Grealish will start from the bench. The Mail state that Bukayo Saka is expected to get the nod up top with Kane and Raheem Sterling.

Grealish has of course joined Manchester City, becoming the most expensive English player in history for a fee of £100million. He has struggled to repay that fee but remains a crucial part of Pep Guardiola’s title-winning City side.

But he was close to leaving Aston Villa three years before his move to City. Tottenham made a bid and Grealish was keen to go in 2018, but Spurs failed to meet Villa’s asking price. Redknapp says Kane loves playing with the City ace.

“I remember speaking to Harry Kane and him telling me he loves to play with Jack because of those little balls he plays into the pockets around the box. That works with Harry so much and Grealish is the perfect man to provide service.”

Would Grealish suit Tottenham? Without a doubt. He has the ability to drive forward from midfield and suits Spurs’ counter-attacking style. He is getting game time at City, but he is in and out of the side. Grealish is hardly the first choice.

It might be that after a couple of years, he could look to depart. Perhaps then, Levy could at some point in the future, look to rectify where he went wrong in 2018 and bring Grealish to North London. He would suit Conte and Kane.
