Tottenham star wins MOTM award after masterclass on World Cup debut vs Serbia

Richarlison was named the official Man of the Match for his brilliant brace in Brazil’s 2-0 win over Serbia.

For large stretches of the game, the Brazilians were pedestrian and failed to break down the opposition defense in their World Cup debut.

Considering Tite’s men were fancied to be the most entertaining team at the tournament, they were insipid for chunks of the contest.

However, the Tottenham Hotspur forward kicked things into gear for his nation, latching on to a Vinicius Jr. strike to tap the rebound in.

But it was soon after that the former Everton hero created a moment that will go down in World Cup folklore.

As Vinicius Jr. found an unmarked Richarlison in the box, he scored an incredible acrobatic volley to double Brazil’s lead over Serbia.

Richarlison won Man of the Match and deservedly so

While the likes of Casemiro and Vinicius Jr. also stood out on the night, Richarlison was awarded the Man of the Match against Serbia, as per B/R Football via Twitter.

It has to be said that the Spurs forward most certainly deserves the accolade, as he turned the game on its head singlehandedly.

Even after the 25-year-old’s opener, the opposition could well have come into the game.

However, it was the ex-Watford man that put the game to bed with a goal of the tournament contender.

Often, tournament football is decided by moments.

And Richarlison most certainly produced two of the biggest ones against Serbia, which is why the Brazilian international deserved to take the Man of the Match trophy home.
