Leicester City ‘open the door’ for midfielder exit as £16m transfer mistake revealed

Dennis Praet, a Belgium international midfielder, has been linked with a January move to Italy, according to the latest Leicester City transfer news.

According to reports, Torino’s “number one target” ahead of the January transfer window is Leicester City midfielder Dennis Praet.

Praet, 28, joined the King Power Stadium in 2019 after a £16 million transfer from Sampdoria. Since then, the Belgian midfielder has struggled to find his best form for the Foxes, scoring just two goals in 49 Premier League appearances.

His struggles in blue led to the player pursuing a temporary loan move back to Italy last season when he joined Ivan Jurić’s Torino side and impressed in Serie A. It is a move that could now be revisited as Praet looks for a potential permanent exit from the East Midlands.

According Toro. via Sport Witness, Praet left a “great memory” at the Italian club and has now become their “number one target” ahead of the January window.

The report goes on to claim that Praet would be open to a return to Torino, with Leicester having “already opened the door” for his potential exit. The two clubs are reported to have been in talks, with the most likely outcome set to be a loan move with an obligation to buy come the summer.

Leicester is not thought to be in a “hurry” to sell, however. Due to their awareness of other clubs with an interest in the midfielder, the City hierarchy is keen to see a potential auction develop, so pushing up any eventual fee for Praet.
