Leicester City target is being considered for sale by the club, and a possible January departure will be discussed.

Leicester City was linked with Benfica defender Morato in September.

According to Brazilian media, both Leicester City and AC Milan were interested in signing the center-back. The Eagles were making significant efforts to keep the player at the time, having turned down a €15 million offer from Rennes.

Even though Leicester City’s pursuit of Morato did not materialize, it appears the Premier League club may soon have another opportunity to sign the 21-year-old.

That’s because today, Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias features a story claiming Benfica currently have too many defenders in the squad, and that could convince them to let some go in the January transfer window.

Of the six center-backs available, Morato and John Brooks are called the ‘weakest links’ and could be the first to go. The outlet just says the Brazilian’s departure becomes more difficult because of the €15m offer they turned down in the summer.

So just in case Leicester City are still interested in the player, this may be an interesting opportunity for them to knock on Benfica’s door and try to get a decent deal.
