Leicester set to make fresh move in January for Jeremie Boga after missing out on Atalanta winger in the summer

Leicester City is looking to resurrect its January bid for Atalanta winger Jeremie Boga.

Talks over a deal for the 25-year-old fell through at the 11th hour on deadline day last summer, but Leicester is increasingly optimistic that an agreement can be reached in the coming weeks.

The Ivory Coast international, formerly of Chelsea, has fallen out of favor at Atalanta, who are looking to offload him in order to reduce their wage bill.

Manager Brendan Rodgers had turned Leicester’s fortunes around prior to the break for the World Cup and is hoping to secure funds to strengthen his squad after the club took out a £46m loan secured against the payments due from Chelsea following defender Wesley Fofana’s sale last summer.

Rodgers is keen to add a full-back and another midfielder if possible.

French-born Boga started out at Chelsea where he had three spells out on loan before joining Sassuolo for £3.5m.

After impressing with 18 goals in 99 games for Sassuolo, he was snapped up by Atalanta but has struggled to settle and replicate his form.
