‘People adore him,’ says a pundit. Spurs player is rated higher than £200 million star

According to goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison is currently regarded more highly in Brazil than star player Neymar.

The 41-year-old, who played 135 times across all competitions during his time in north London (transfermarkt) sang the praises of the striker who caught the eye on his World Cup debut.

Richarlison scored a brace in Brazil’s Group G opener against Serbia which included an acrobatic scissor kick.

Neymar, who joined PSG from Barcelona for £ 200 million in 2017 (Sky Sports) has sat out Brazil’s last two matches due to an ankle injury.

Richarlison moved to Tottenham during the summer transfer window in a £60 million deal from Everton (Sky Sports) and is yet to open his Premier League account for his new club.

Gomes told Stadium Astro: “People love him in Brazil. They are putting him now ahead of Neymar, to be honest.”

Richarlison did not feature in Brazil’s 1-0 defeat to Cameroon on Friday but could return to the side for their round of sixteen clashes against Heung-min Son’s South Korea on Monday.

Hopefully, Richarlison can continue to find the back of the net for Brazil and he can head back to north London full of confidence and ready to hit the ground running when Antonio Conte’s side travels to Brentford on Boxing Day.
