Tottenham is closing in on two transfers worth more than £60 million, with Paratici on the verge of triggering release clauses.

According to a recent rumor, Tottenham Hotspur is close to completing agreements for Sporting CP duo Pedro Porro and Marcus Edwards.

Tottenham’s interest in Porro has been obvious for some time, and it was recently revealed that Daniel Levy was considering paying the right-wing back’s release clause, which is said to be over £40 million.

The Lilywhites appear to be contemplating a major raid on the Portuguese club, with former junior player Edwards also on their radar, a transaction made easier by the fact that they will receive a 50% discount on his £52 million release clause.

According to a source from Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness), Spurs are now ‘not far’ from meeting Sporting’s expectations, as they are currently proposing roughly £61 million for the two.

With Sporting reportedly holding out for £66 million, a double deal might be on the horizon, and Fabio Paratici is getting closer to just meeting both release clauses, which would leave the Liga Portugal side with no alternative but to sell.

Tottenham may have made the wrong decision by allowing Edwards to depart in the first place, but the 50% sell-on option means that they can still buy him for a reasonable price, given his recent achievements.

The attacking midfielder has a combined 18 goals and assists in 25 games this season, including four in Europe, and has also demonstrated his versatility by playing across the front three, earning praise from football writer Joe Prince-Wright for his performance against Spurs in the Champions League.

It is no secret that Antonio Conte has been dissatisfied with his right-wing back options this season, and Porro would be a significant upgrade over Emerson Royal, as evidenced by an average of 4.58 shot-creating actions per 90 over the past year, placing him in the 99th percentile when compared to his positional peers.

Given that only about £5 million stands in the way of the double deal, Levy should move quickly to finalize the acquisitions before another team does.
