Don Hutchison now tells Liverpool to sign a ‘extraordinary’ player instead of Caicedo for a fraction of the price.

Don Hutchison, a BT Sport pundit, believes Liverpool should sign AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali over Brighton and Hove Albion’s Moises Caicedo.

On Twitter, the former Red claimed that, while the Ecuador international is a good player, there are many others on the market who would provide better value for money.

“80 million for Caicedo!” Hutchison yelled.

“Good player, but there are 20 similar players out there like him.

“This is the player [Sandro Tonali] that Liverpool should buy for a fraction of the price. He does everything!”

The Merseyside club are big fans of Caicedo, but according to reports, Jurgen Klopp’s side is out of the race to sign the 21-year-old, with Arsenal and Chelsea leading the way.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Liverpool made contact with Toni’s former club, Brescia, over a potential move for the Italian four years ago.

Hutchison says Liverpool should sign Tonali over Caicedo

Despite his obvious talents, demands upwards of £80m for Caicedo seem excessively inflated.

Just two years ago, the Ecuadorian signed for Brighton in a deal worth just £4.5m.

To date, he has made just 26 appearances in the Premier League. Although he has been extremely impressive, the number of matches he has played remains relatively low.

Therefore, it is understandable that Liverpool is hesitant to match the Seagull’s valuation of the player.

Tonali, who has been described as “extraordinary” by PSG star Marco Verratti, would be a better value for a comparable experience.

At 22 years old, the Milan midfielder has already made 112 Serie A appearances.

With appearances in both the Champions League and the Europa League, Italy international has proven he can perform on Europe’s biggest stage.

As a result, Hutchison’s move could be a great one, though Caicedo would be fantastic under Klopp.
