After the club ‘decided not to sign’ the player, he is expected to stay at Leicester. The foxes’ man

The player is expected to stay at Leicester after Real Betis expressed strong interest in signing Ayoze Pérez before Villarreal surpassed them last week in the race to sign the Leicester City player.

As revealed on January 26th that the 29-year-old was just one step away from joining the Yellow Submarine.

The club ‘decided not to sign’ the Foxes player.

Villarreal hoped to sign the Leicester City midfielder to replace Nicolas Jackson, who was set to join AFC Bournemouth. The latter’s move fell through, and he has returned to the La Liga club.

El Periódico Mediterráneo reported two days ago that Jackson’s failure to leave the Spanish club would have no effect on Pérez’s arrival at the club.

It was also reported that the Foxes forward had ‘everything agreed’ with Villarreal and was awaiting Brendan Rodgers’ approval.

In this case, there has been a new twist. After failing to offload Jackson, Cadena Ser journalist Xavi Sidro told Carrusel Deportivo that Quique Setién’s side ‘decided not to sign’ the ex-Newcastle United man in January.

Villarreal feels their squad is complete and will rely upon Jackson for the second half of this season.

Pérez has less than six months left on his deal and following this latest development, he is likely to finish the season at Leicester.
