Aston Villa confirm three deadline-day deals in a single announcement, ahead of a busy evening.

Aston Villa has announced three completed deals on deadline day, with a busy evening expected.

Aston Villa has confirmed three completed transactions in a single announcement, their first club statement of the January deadline day. Two of the transfers were somewhat predictable, with much speculation throughout the morning and early afternoon, but the third was completely unexpected.

The first significant point raised is the return of a loan player, Bertrand Traore, from Turkish club Basaksehir. The Burkina Faso international is currently injured, but he will undergo rehabilitation and rejoin the senior squad in due course. Unai Emery is said to be a big fan of the player.

With one player returning from loan, two others have left Villa Park on a temporary basis. Marvelous Nakamba, a Zimbabwean central midfielder, and Aaron Ramsey, a creative playmaker, have joined Luton Town and Middlesbrough, respectively. It is hoped that they will get some game time in the Championship.

“Aston Villa can confirm Bertrand Traoré has been recalled from his loan spell at Istanbul Başakşehir,” the Villans said in a statement. We also wish Marvelous Nakamba, who has joined Luton Town on loan, and Aaron Ramsey, who has joined Middlesbrough, the best for the remainder of the season.”

Meanwhile, Villa is making a last-ditch attempt to sign a marquee midfielder.

In other Aston Villa news, last-minute talks to sign Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Houssem Aouar are reportedly underway. Emery is said to be far from finished with his transfer business as the deadline approaches, with Villa reportedly turning to Aouar after a failed bid for Matteo Guendouzi.

According to Football Insider, there has been contacting with Lyon about a possible loan deal for Aouar. Villa is expected to face “competition from rival clubs,” but they may have the upper hand due to the strong pull of their new manager.

Aouar has never left Lyon, having come through their academy, but with only eight Ligue 1 appearances this season, it may be time to try something new. Aouar has 41 goals and 35 assists in 224 games for Lyon across all competitions.

Villa will need to act quickly if they want to complete a deal with less than seven hours until the transfer deadline at the time of publication. Stranger things have happened on deadline days, so keep an eye on this one.
