‘I am signing him,’ Liverpool is now told to go and sign a free transfer for a ‘world-class’ midfielder.

Liverpool has been urged to enter the free transfer market for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.

Kante’s contract expires this summer, with a seven-year stay at Stamford Bridge on the line. Liverpool, as we all know, requires midfield reinforcements. Former Red Steve Nicol suggested to ESPN FC that Kante could be the answer.

“If I am the coach of the best team on the planet and he [Kante] is available, I want to sign him,” Nicol said. “In football, there are certain things you take a chance on, and this is one of them.

“When he’s fit, you know exactly what you’re getting. You know you’re getting a winner, a gentleman, and a player. He’s the complete package. The world’s nicest guy. Fantastic in the locker room. You will receive everything.

“The question is the fitness aspect, but it’s worth a shot. If I were Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, or any of the other so-called big boys. If this guy is available for free, I’m going to sign him.”

That’s all well and good, but Kante has only appeared in the Premier League twice this season. He’s a legendary figure, but at the age of thirty-one, he appears to be a spent force. Is it really necessary for Liverpool to add another injury-prone midfielder? We’ll leave it to you to respond.

Liverpool is on the lookout for summer bargains.
With Liverpool putting money aside in anticipation of a big move for Jude Bellingham, they may have to make some good signings.

They’re not the same as Chelsea. The Reds cannot and will not simply throw money at targets to see what sticks.

But there’s no denying that Liverpool requires more than just Bellingham. As good as the 19-year-old is, the issues are much deeper than bringing in a single superstar to solve. No, Liverpool requires three, if not four new midfielders.

As a result, they’ll have to get smart. Matheus Nunes appears to be the most likely candidate to fill in as another potential middle-of-the-pitch starter this summer. However, given that the Wolves player could cost up to £55 million, this will put a further dent in the budget.

So, whether they like it or not, Liverpool may have no choice but to rummage through the bargain bin. Kante would obviously fall into that category if he failed to sign a new contract with Chelsea.

On his best day, he could even close the gap in Liverpool’s midfield by himself. He has the potential to be “world-class,” as Graham Potter stated earlier this season [Football London]. But he is no longer the player he once was. The Reds should stay away.
