Yaya Toure’s former agent responds to’secret payments’ in Man City financial breach case

Dimitri Seluk, Yaya Toure’s former agent, has denied receiving “secret payments” from Manchester City.

WHAT OCCURRED? That is one of the charges leveled against the reigning Premier League champions as a result of a four-year investigation into transactions at the Etihad Stadium, which uncovered more than 100 potential financial breaches. The city’s case has been referred to an independent commission, which will decide on any penalties, but Seluk maintains that he was not involved in any wrongdoing.

WHAT THEY SAID: When asked about payments related to his time working with Ivorian midfielder Toure, who spent eight years with City between 2010 and 2018, Seluk told The Guardian: “No, everything was clear; there was nothing on the backside. I’m curious to see what happens because this came as a surprise to me. Yaya, of course, paid everything, including taxes. It was all very clear.”

THE BIGGER PICTURE: When asked if he would say the same thing if the commission investigating City approached him, Seluk replied, “Of course. I’d tell them the same thing.”
