Lisandro Martinez calls a Manchester United teammate an “idiot.”

Manchester United’s spirit is high, with Erik ten Hag’s men discovering a fighting spirit that has propelled them up the Premier League table.

So much so that Lisandro Martinez has given Wout Weghorst, a new teammate, an amusing nickname.

Martinez refers to the striker as ‘Bobo,’ which translates to ‘idiot,’ according to the Daily Mail.

The ironic moniker refers to the World Cup quarterfinal match between Argentina and the Netherlands, which ended in a scuffle.

During a post-match interview, Argentine captain Lionel Messi was seen shouting the name toward Weghorst, and the video quickly went viral.

The United duo appear to have made light of the situation, with Weghorst taking the banter in stride.

Weghorst is currently on loan at United until the end of the season, but a strong finish to the season could earn him a permanent move.

The Dutchman has been a valuable asset to Erik ten Hag, starting every game on loan and scoring a well-taken goal in United’s Carabao Cup semi-final victory over Nottingham Forest.

With Anthony Martial unable to regain his fitness, the big striker’s impressive link-up play has provided a focal point for Ten Hag’s attack. Weghorst has had to work for his living.

And Martinez has proven to be one of the season’s best singers. His no-nonsense, aggressive defending style, combined with his skill on the ball, has catapulted him into the hearts of Manchester United fans.

The pair will almost certainly play a significant role in the coming weeks, with games coming thick and fast for Ten Hag’s men, who are still fighting on four fronts.

United will be looking to avenge their midweek loss to Leeds when they travel to the same opponent for the rematch this Sunday afternoon.
