Following Leicester’s victory, a big name praises three Manchester United players.

Man United tightened their grip on fourth place with a 3-0 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes praised teammates David de Gea, Marcus Rashford, and Wout Weghorst for their contributions in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford.

United, who are now unbeaten in each of their last eight matches, tightened their grip on a top-fourth berth thanks to two goals from Rashford and one from substitute Jadon Sancho. Rashford broke the deadlock after 25 minutes, burying a low shot past goalkeeper Danny Ward, ahead of doubling his and the Reds’ tally 11 minutes into the second half.

Sancho, who stepped off the bench at the interval to replace Alejandro Garnacho, finished off a crisp United move to net their third goal of the game and his second since returning from his extended absence. Erik ten Hag’s side, however, had goalkeeper De Gea to thank prior to Rashford’s opener after he produced two brilliant saves to deny Harvey Barnes and former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho.

“I don’t think we entered the game really well, we gave them some chances and David did some great, amazing saves and that is why he is one of the best in the world,” Fernandes told MUTV. “We should have controlled the possession better in the first half, especially in the first 15 minutes.

“After that, I think we got control of the game and obviously the second half, overall, it was much better than the first.”

Rashford, who had given United a slim lead at the break, calmed any nerves shortly after the break by scoring his 24th goal of the season after a VAR check for offside. He now has six goals in his last five games across all competitions.

Fernandes continued, “It’s been unbelievable for us. Obviously, we want him to enjoy his moment and continue because he has been extremely valuable to us.

“His goals have always been important to us, and today was no exception. Even when he appears to be out of the game, he can make his runs, go in behind people, outrun people, and score because he finishes so well.

“We have to enjoy his moment and hope he continues because we have to serve him.”

Though Rashford, who is currently having his best season in front of the goal of his career, is going from strength to strength, fellow forward Weghorst is struggling to get the break he so desperately needs. He came close to scoring on a few occasions against the Foxes, but Fernandes is confident he will get his chance soon.

“Sometimes it’s like this when you want the ball to go in, and I think it’s just a matter of time,” the United midfielder added. “Obviously, as a striker, you always want to score goals and be involved in goals, but he’s doing his job.

“He is doing a lot of runs that we need, building the pressure that we need, and is doing what the manager demands from him and that is why he is still playing. It is a matter of time [before he scores] and he will get his goal.

“And after getting his first I hope he will open something that will give him more and more goals so that he can help the team even more.”
