Tottenham fans will not be happy with Daniel Levy update

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has been chastised in the past for his unwillingness to invest heavily in the playing squad.

According to the Telegraph, the Tottenham manager has given himself a pay raise of around £500,000.

Apparently, the Tottenham chairman earned around £2.69 million last year and his earnings have increased to £3.2 million this financial year.

It appears that his pay rise has not gone down well with the Tottenham fans.

Meanwhile, Tottenham director Fabio Parartici and commercial officer Todd Kline have also seen a major increase in their paycheck with their wages rising from £4 million to £6.7 million.

Tottenham fans are clearly frustrated that Daniel Levy is enjoying a hike in wages when the playing squad is in need of investment.

Tottenham is currently 4th in the league table and they will be desperate to finish in the Champions League position.

The Londoners have not won a trophy since 2008 when they won the League Cup. It is no secret that Spurs will have to improve their squad in order to compete with clubs like Manchester City in the coming seasons.

Meanwhile, the future of manager Antonio Conte seems uncertain as well and it remains to be seen whether the London club can hold down to the Italian for the foreseeable future.

It will be interesting to see if Daniel Levy can strengthen the Tottenham squad significantly in the coming window and help them challenge for the major trophies once again.

However, the criticism directed towards the Tottenham chairman seems unfair considering the fact that he took a significant pay cut during the pandemic. Furthermore, he has worked tirelessly towards improving the club’s revenue system.

A club of Tottenham’s stature should be challenging for major trophies every season and they certainly have a talented squad at their disposal. If Daniel Levy and Antonio Conte can plug some of the gaps in this squad over the coming months, there is no reason why Tottenham cannot win a major trophy next season.
