Here are nine players, including two former Manchester United stars and a Chelsea icon, that Wolves might yet sign on a free transfer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers experienced a somewhat unpleasant summer window as Financial Fair Play prohibited significant acquisitions and forced the sale of some important players.

When Matheus Nunes was sold to Manchester City, Gary O’Neil was given the green light to bring in a few new players after Julen Lopetegui quit the team owing to unrest about a dearth of deals.

Wolves had to make careful use of the Nunes funds, and they did so by setting aside £21 million, which they used to recruit Enso González, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, and Santiago Bueno for a total of £32 million.

Nevertheless, with the departure of club hero Rben Neves to Al-Hilal, the squad is likely in a worse position than it was when the window started.
