Alex Iwobi limps off the pitch in tears after sustaining an ankle injury in a collision with Dutch left-back Tyrell Malacia. The 22-year-old Nigerian was taken off on a stretcher after sustaining what appears to be a serious injury to his ankle following a challenge from Malacia.

As his team-mates swarmed around him to see how bad the injury was, club skipper Seamus Coleman was one of the first on the scene to help. The former Arsenal star made it clear he was in pain as the Toffees medical team ran on to the pitch as he shielded his face with his jersey.
It is unclear how serious the injury is, but it is unlikely he will be available for Saturday’s match against Southampton in what is shaping up to be a relegation battle. Iwobi, 26, has been a key player for the Tofferes this season under Lampard, providing six assists and one goal in 21 appearances so far. He joined the club from Arsenal in 2019 on a one-year contract for a fee of £26,7million, with a view to staying until 2024.
