DONE DEAL:Max Aarons has finally been signed by Southampton.

Twelve months after Bournemouth beat him to the right-back position.

Following their disappointment at not acquiring right-back Max Aarons at the beginning of the 23/24 season, which saw them promoted back to the Premier League at the first attempt, Southampton, who was just promoted, are prepared to renew their interest in the player this transfer window.

After ranking in the top 20 of England, the right-back is being sought by several top-flight clubs, but according to BBC Sport, the Saints want to sign him.

After Southampton was relegated from the top tier that season, Aarons was on the verge of transferring to St Mary’s last summer. Instead, he moved to Bournemouth in search of Premier League football, which Southampton could not yet provide for him.

Leeds United and Southampton reached an agreement on a fee with Norwich City; nevertheless, the Cherries made a last-ditch effort to sign the former England Under-21 international for a fee of £12 million. However, manager Russell Martin wants to add the 24-year-old to his roster after his team defeated Leeds 1-0 at Wembley to win the Championship play-offs last month.

Southampton Seeking Strengthening

Due to Bournemouth stealing Aarons away last summer, they were unable to sign him.

Following a disappointing first season at Bournemouth due to a recurring hamstring injury, the former Norwich City defender was only able to make 23 appearances overall during the 23/24 season, only making 13 league starts.

However, the Englishman had played for his childhood club Norwich for almost 200 appearances before coming to the Vitality Stadium, where he was praised as a “outstanding” player by then manager Daniel Farke.

In addition to being selected for the Championship Team of the Season twice, the PFA Team of the Year twice, and the EFL Young Player of the Year award in the 2018–19 season, he assisted them in winning two EFL Championship titles.
