Arsenal are interested in bringing Real Madrid midfielder

Arsenal are interested in bringing Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos back to the club but face a battle with Real Betis and even Juventus.

That’s according to a report from El Nacional in Spain, who claim that Ceballos could be on the move in 2022.

Ceballos, 25, hasn’t played a single competitive game for Real Madrid this season and his days look to be numbered.

Arsenal are again being linked having taken Ceballos on loan for two years from 2019 to 2021.

Ceballos only notched two goals and five assists in 77 games for Arsenal. His play was often neat and tidy without ever really affecting the game in the final third.

Mikel Arteta thought Ceballos was ‘really good’ at Arsenal, and the Gunners are allegedly keen on a third deal for him.

WOULD ARSENAL REALLY TAKE CEBALLOS BACK?

Ceballos was a little underwhelming in both loan spells at Arsenal.

Not wanted at Real, Ceballos seems to be regressing, and Arsenal fans haven’t exactly missed him since his departure.

Add in that El Nacional isn’t exactly the most reliable source even by Spanish standards and this one seems utterly bizarre.

There could be some weight to it though.

If the Africa Cup of Nations goes ahead, Arsenal will lose Ghanaian star Thomas Partey. Egypt’s Mohamed Elneny would go too, though he could be sold in January anyway.

That would leave a currently-injured Granit Xhaka and youngster Albert Sambi Lokonga as natural central midfielders.

That’s a real problem for Arteta, and a loan until the end of the season would give Arsenal some room to manoeuvre in the middle of the park.

Ceballos already knows Arteta and most of the Arsenal squad, meaning he could slot in without needing much time for adjustment.

We would say that if Arsenal need a midfielder, they would be better off looking elsewhere, as Ceballos didn’t exactly shine in two years at the club.

Yet if the budget is tight and Arsenal don’t want to commit to another permanent midfield signing, Ceballos on loan may not seem as crazy as first thought.
