Chelsea are reportedly set to make a profit on their £97.5million deal

Chelsea are reportedly set to make a profit on their £97.5million deal for Romelu Lukaku, while personal terms have been agreed with defensive target Jules Kounde

Chelsea are still expected to complete further business in the summer transfer window despite forking out £97.5million to re-sign Romelu Lukaku last week.

Lukaku has left Inter Milan to head back to Stamford Bridge seven years after he departed to join Everton, becoming the Blues’ most expensive signing ever.

Thomas Tuchel was keen to add a new centre-forward to his ranks, but reports suggest he is still looking to strengthen other areas of his squad before the window closes at the end of the month.

Certain players could also leave the west London club over the next few weeks, so we’re on hand with the latest Chelsea transfer news below.

Lukaku profit

Despite spending £97.5million on Lukaku, Chelsea will actually be at a profit in the summer transfer window if they manage to make another sale worth at least £4.5million.

That is expected given fringe stars Emerson Palmieri, Davide Zappacosta, Ross Barkley, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are likely to leave before the transfer deadline on August 31.

Any further exits would take them beyond £97.5million in sales alone, with Tammy Abraham’s £34million switch to Roma and Fikayo Tomori’s £26million move to AC Milan their biggest departures.

Marc Guehi (£20million to Crystal Palace), Tino Livramento (£5million to Southampton), Victor Moses (£4.5million to Spartak Moscow), Lewis Bate (£1.5million to Leeds) and Dynel Sime (£1.5million to Southampton) have also left Stamford Bridge.

Kounde terms agreed

Nevertheless, Chelsea’s rumoured pursuit of Sevilla defender Jules Kounde means they are unlikely to finish the window with a profit.

The Blues are said to remain very much interested in signing Kounde, yet only if they manage to move one of their current centre-backs on before the August 31 deadline.

According to Mundo Deportivo, via Team Talk, they have already agreed personal terms with the France international, who is waiting on them to negotiate his transfer fee with Sevilla.

He is believed to have a £77million release clause in his contract, but the Spanish club could be tempted to sell up for around £60million.

Tuchel blocks Ziyech move

Reports in Italy have suggested over the past few months that AC Milan are looking to prise Hakim Ziyech away from Chelsea this summer.

However, Calciomercato claim it will now be ‘almost impossible’ for the Serie A outfit to sign him because Tuchel does not want him to leave Stamford Bridge anytime soon.

Tuchel used Ziyech regularly in pre-season and in their UEFA Super Cup win over Villarreal, a game which saw the Moroccan winger suffer a shoulder injury.

When he is fit and firing again, Ziyech is expected to play another crucial part in the Blues’ season.
