Premier League giants Liverpool have, on Monday evening, confirmed a pair of departures from the club’s squad.

The summer, to this point, has of course proven an altogether quiet one when it comes to incomings at Anfield.

In fact, Jurgen Klopp and co. have added just a solitary body to the club’s ranks, in the form of defender Ibrahima Konate.

A deal for French talent Konate was struck before the transfer window even technically opened, after those in a position of power at Liverpool opted to activate the defender’s RB Leipzig release clause.

On the flip-side, the Reds’ board has been far more active when it comes to player departures.

Thus far, all of key midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, long-time loanee Marko Grujic and youth product Harry Wilson have been moved on on a permanent basis.

In addition, Ozan Kabak, who spent the 2nd half of last season on loan at Anfield from Schalke, has since returned to the Veltins Arena.

And, as outlined above, on Monday, not one, but two further exits from Jurgen Klopp’s ranks have been confirmed.

The first comes in the form of a loan, with young attacker Ben Woodburn, as expected, having linked up with Scottish outfit Hearts for the remainder of the campaign:

The other, though, is set to add some much-needed reinforcement to the transfer kitty at the disposal of Red boss Klopp.

On the back of another difficult campaign on Merseyside, Xherdan Shaqiri has officially made the move to French outfit Olympique Lyonnais, on a permanent basis.

The deal, as confirmed by OL, will net Liverpool a fee of around €6 million, plus a further 5 million in potential add-ons. Could such funds, in turn, be utilised in adding a long overdue fresh face to Liverpool’s first-team ranks?
