Woodburn was a hot prospect for Liverpool some five years

Liverpool winger Ben Woodburn hasn’t quite lived up to the early hype, and now he is off to Scotland having joined Heart of Midlothian.

Woodburn was a hot prospect for Liverpool some five years, making his Premier League debut in November 2016.

The Welshman became Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer just a matter of days later as he found the net against Leeds United in the EFL Cup.

Many were backing the attacker for a huge future, but Woodburn has lost his way, making just 11 appearances for the Reds in all competitions.

Now 21 and having struggled on loan at Sheffield United, Oxford United and Blackpool, Woodburn is on the move again, this time joining Hearts on loan until January. With his contract up at the end of the season, Woodburn is in the last chance saloon with the Reds.

Woodburn did make the bench against Norwich City on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, but has now been allowed to leave Anfield.

Hearts fans are pretty excited, taking to Twitter to claim that this is a ‘massive signing’ for Robbie Neilson’s side.

Some thanked Jurgen Klopp for allowing Woodburn to make the move to Edinburgh, and believe this is a major coup for Hearts as they seek attacking firepower.
