Sevilla president claims that no Chelsea offer for Jules Koundé

All the various transfer rumor mongers across the interwebs are quite confident that Chelsea have some sort of agreement in place with Sevilla for the transfer of Jules Koundé, but according to the Sevilla president himself, we’ve still yet to actually submit an official bid.

And José Castro isn’t just repeating himself from the previous day, speaking this time after the Champions League draw that was held in Istanbul on Thursday night (and saw Sevilla get drawn into a very nice group containing Lille, Salzburg, and Wolfsburg).

Chelsea have reportedly agreed a deal starting at €50-55m with a certain amount of bonuses that will likely take the deal up closer to €60m or perhaps even €70m. Still below Koundé’s release clause, but certainly a hefty price even in today’s market that is likely to make him the most expensive defender signing in club history — beating the €50m spent on Ben Chilwell and the €35m spent on David Luiz (second time) and Antonio Rüdiger.

On our end, the deal is probably still also waiting on Kurt Zouma’s €30m transfer to West Ham, which should be done soon.
