Former Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has provided an update on his potential return to professional football.

The ex-Reds striker has been without a club since March 2020 when he had his contract at Trabzonspor terminated.

Sturridge moved to Anfield from Chelsea in January 2013, and went on to spend six-and-a-half years with the club during which time he scored 68 goals in 160 appearances.

Since leaving Liverpool in 2019, the 32-year-old had a brief spell in Turkey but is now currently a free agent.

The most recent update from Sturridge came earlier in the summer, where he went on a trial with Spanish club Real Mallorca, and it appears that he has finally got some minutes under his belt.

Posting an update on Twitter, Sturridge says that he managed to play in a behind closed doors game, where he found the back of the net.

“No better feeling than scoring goals,” wrote Sturridge on Twitter. “Even in behind closed doors games like I played today, when I scored it felt amazing.

“Feeling sharper and sharper as the days go by.

“Can’t wait to play a proper game whenever the day comes and show the world my talents. God is good.”
