Mason Greenwood won’t want to show his Manchester United boss his FIFA Ultimate Team Manchester United’s

Mason Greenwood has raised questions about his relationship with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a strange social media post. The English forward has started the 2021/22 campaign in flying form with three goals in five appearances, but when new signings adjust and other players return from injury he could find his opportunities being somewhat limited.

Over the past week, video game FIFA has been unveiling their virtual ratings for each player, and many feel that Greenwood has been robbed of a hefty upgrade.

Greenwood was 77 rated last year on Ultimate Team, a game mode where players can build their best eleven and play against each other’s squads.

But, despite scoring seven and assisting two last season, he has only been upgraded to a 78 card making him largely unusable for players after the first few weeks of the game.

But his minuscule upgrade hasn’t prevented the 19-year-old from playing the game before its official release.

Greenwood posted an image of his Ultimate Team on his Instagram story last night, which included teammates Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and Aaron Wan Bissaka.

But as manager he did not have his own boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he had Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool.

Of course, the England international may not have packed the Norwegian boss yet, but managers can be purchased off of the transfer market very cheaply and it wouldn’t have required too much effort to put faith in his coach.

The post comes as a surprise to many considering that Solskjaer has started Greenwood in every game so far this season and thus the players unwillingness to show his fondness of his manager to his 2.7million followers is obscure.

Greenwood may find that his consistent starts may come to an end soon with Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford both on the road to recovery.

Fellow right-winger Jadon Sancho, who signed for the Red Devils over the summer for £73m, is also expected to be above the young prospect in the pecking order as he looks to adjust to the English top flight.

The homecoming of Cristiano Ronaldo after 12 years away was also expected to hinder Greenwood’s chances of being the chance to continue his sudden rise to glory, but because of the forward’s versatility, it means that he can easily play out wide to provide a vacant spot in the starting eleven for Ronaldo.

Speaking in April, Solskjaer revealed he doesn’t see Greenwood as an out and out striker anyway. He said: Maybe in the future he can play as a central striker, but I still think that’s a few years away.

“Being a centre-forward in the Premier League is probably the hardest position to play.

“At the moment, I think Mason is more suited to playing that wide role, dropping into pockets, finding space and running in behind.

“I don’t want him with his back to goal and having two centre-backs up his backside. I think we have found a good way to develop him, but he might end up as a No 9.”

United will take on Aston Villa this weekend before hosting Villareal in the Champions League the following Wednesday, a match that Solskjaer will be desperate to win.

The La Liga side beat the Old Trafford outfit on penalties in last season’s Europa League final, with goalkeeper David De Gea missing the crucial penalty.
