Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Manchester United have reportedly ‘lost patience’ with defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka and see RB Leipzig’s Nordi Mukiele as a potential, perfect replacement.

That’s according to a report from Spanish media outlet Fichajes.Net, which suggests the powers that be at Old Trafford are unimpressed with Wan-Bissaka’s start to the new campaign and believe that a new right back is needed next summer, with Mukiele their prime target.

Since moving to Saxony in 2018, the 23 year old has established himself as one of the best fullbacks in the Bundesliga, making over 100 appearances in all competitions and scoring 9 goals. In addition to being able to play across the back four and in midfield, Mukiele also has experience on the international stage having made his debut for the French first team earlier this month.

The report also claims that Manchester United are unconvinced by Wan-Bissaka’s understudy, 22 year old Diego Dalot, who was rumoured to be on his way to Roma to reunite with former manager José Mourinho.

Fichajes.Net also believes the club are not keen on signing a homegrown talent to take over from the ex-Crystal Palace man, as negotiations with Athletico Madrid for Kieran Trippier this have proven just how expensive English stars can really be.

Wan-Bissaka has come under fire for several recent performances, including his display in Switzerland, where he was sent off against Young Boys after 35 minutes. The Red Devils went on to lose that match 2-1.

Following the club’s late defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday, talkSPORT pundit Michael Gray lambasted the 23 year old and argued the defender wouldn’t even be able to cope in a lower division.

“He’s the best defender in the Premier League in a one vs one situation,” the former Sunderland and England left back told the station. “But his distribution with the ball, with the ball at his feet… he wouldn’t get a game in League Two.

“When I watch him play, he never looks comfortable with the ball at his feet. I don’t feel confident at all, I don’t think he does either.”

Should Wan-Bissaka’s form continue to decline, this story could become much more than a transfer rumour in a few months’ time.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka could shift from his preferred right-back position to centre-back under a drastic move from Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to reports.

The 23-year-old has continued to impress at United out on the flank as he made 54 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils last season.

And Wan-Bissaka, who was signed from Crystal Palace in a £50m deal in 2019, scored twice and registered four assists in 34 league appearances last season.

However, Solskjaer is considering a reshuffle to the United backline and identified the former Palace player as a potential centre-half option.

According to The Sun, the 48-year-old Norwegian plans to use Wan-Bissaka at centre-back to see if ‘he could handle the position.’

The newspaper added that the United star would be ‘ideal’ on the right of a three-man backline or in the middle of a back four.Solskjaer is keen to deal with United’s defensive issues and find an effective partner to pair alongside Red Devils skipper Harry Maguire.
