Reports have surfaced that 36-year-old Ronaldo wants United boss Solskjaer to do something

Aston Villa won 1-0 at Old Trafford against Manchester United last weekend

Cristiano Ronaldo has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that Manchester United must play the ball quicker if they are to make the most of his attacking talent, according to reports.

Following a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa at Old Trafford last weekend, reports have surfaced that 36-year-old Ronaldo wants United boss Solskjaer to tell his team to play at a faster tempo in the opposition half.

Ronaldo has hit the ground running on his return to Old Trafford this season, bagging five goals in five games, including a dramatic winner against Villarreal on Wednesday night.

However, Solskjaer’s side have flattered to deceive this term, with Ronaldo unable to prevent defeats against Villa and Young Boys in the Champions League, while the Red Devils were lacklustre against their Spanish opposition in midweek despite taking maximum points in the end.

Dean Smith’s Villa remain the only team that has stopped Ronaldo from scoring, let alone registering a shot on target.

And ESPN reports that the Portuguese, who sets high standards of his team-mates, has told United boss Solskjaer to implement a quicker brand of football in the opposition half.

However, Solskjaer claims they have never had a discussion like that and he insisted any conversations between him and Ronaldo would remain private.

Solskjaer said: “That is another one. Wow, what can you answer to that?

“What we speak about us that is between us, but we haven’t had that discussion, put it that way.”
