Guardiola told to unleash sensation as new Man City ‘Trial’ system given thumbs-up by pundit

Man City need to find a way of getting Raheem Sterling back in their starting XI, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Sterling could line up alongside Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Gabriel Jesus in a front four and would add some much-needed pace.

Sterling has started just two Premier League games this term but has featured in the other five fixtures from the bench.

Spanish outlet Sport report (October 5) Barcelona are interested in signing the England star, who is said to be keen on a move.

But Agbonlahor believes there is still a place for him in Pep Guardiola’s side.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I’d love to see Sterling, Grealish, Foden and Jesus as a four.

“Then you’ve got De Bruyne and Rodri as two centre-midfielders.

“I just think Sterling adds a bit more pace into the line up.

“The way they played against Liverpool, they passed them off the park. Whatever Pep is trialling or trying seems to be working.

“They’ve got so many different players and formations they can try. I love Riyad Mahrez as well.

“There’s plenty of formations they can play and it’s hard to say what’s their best.

“I don’t think them not signing a striker will make a difference, to be honest.

“They won’t struggle to score goals, they scored two against Liverpool.

“Will a striker help them more score goals? Of course, it will. You put a Harry Kane or a Robert Lewandowski in that team and they’ll score.

“But the players they’ve got are capable of scoring goals.”
