Liverpool star set for welcome return from injury for trip to Watford

Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to return from injury this weekend when Liverpool travel to take on Watford in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old has been out with a groin injury, missing the 5-1 Champions League demolition of Porto and the thrilling 2-2 Premier League draw with Manchester City.

The Reds travel to Vicarage Road in the early kick-off on Saturday knowing that a victory will take them to the top of the Premier League table and manager Jurgen Klopp will be glad to have his first choice right-back available again.

James Milner filled in for Alexander-Arnold in his absence, but struggled during the clash with City, as the Premier League champions unleashed their array of attacking options.

The Telegraph report that Milner’s services will no longer be required at right-back, with Alexander-Arnold fit and available again after returning to training on Wednesday.

Alexander-Arnold has started five Premier League games so far this season, sitting out the 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in September before his recent groin problem.

Liverpool are the only team still unbeaten in the Premier League, but go into the weekend’s action one point and one place behind Chelsea at the top of the table after the draw with Pep Guardiola’s side last time out.

They have a string of big games to come, with a trip to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League followed by a visit to Old Trafford in the Premier League coming after the Watford clash.
