Manchester United drop Harry Maguire team selection hint ahead of Leicester match

Man United play Leicester on Saturday afternoon and it seems certain that Harry Maguire will be involved.

Harry Maguire is expected to start for Manchester United against Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Manchester Evening News understands that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will name Maguire in United’s starting XI for the Reds’ Premier League clash against Leicester despite the centre-back having only returned to full training on Friday afternoon.

Maguire was forced off the pitch in United’s 1-0 defeat against Aston Villa last month and he was subsequently sidelined with a calf injury that he sustained in that match, which caused him to be absent for England’s recent World Cup qualifiers.

Solskjaer confirmed that Maguire had returned to full training on grass at Carrington on Friday morning, though.

Phil Jones and Teden Mengi started for United’s U23s against Blackburn on Saturday, which would also point towards Maguire starting.

Raphael Varane sustained a groin injury in France’s Nations League final win over Spain on Sunday and he’s been ruled out for ‘a few weeks’ and that means Solskjaer will choose between Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof to play alongside Maguire against Leicester. Considering Solskjaer’s preference before Varane’s arrival, the latter seems the more likely to start today.
