Glenn Murray has claimed that people have seemed to have ‘forgotten about’ the ‘deadly’ Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, as he told Premier League Productions.

The former Crystal Palace striker shared that Aubameyang is better off playing down the middle, rather than out on the left, because he drifts out of games a lot less for Arsenal.

Whilst Aubameyang’s overall performance on Monday night wasn’t his best, he did add a goal to his game and he did lead the press without the ball.

Last season was a real struggle for Aubameyang, as he produced one of his worst campaigns in front of goal for many a year.

Perhaps that has seem the Gabon star mentioned a lot less and not spoken about alongside the likes of Mo Salah, Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jamie Vardy when talking about the Golden Boot race.

Murray knows exactly what it’s like leading the line in England’s top-flight and coming up against a player of Aubameyang’s quality, as he had this to say about the player.

“Everyone seems to have forgotten about Aubameyang,” said Murray. “But he is still deadly. What I liked about Aubameyang is that I like him through the middle.

“When he is out on the left, then I feel he drifts in and out of games. He feels that he is the main man again and it gives him that focal point.

“With the the youth and energy around him, buzzing around him, creating for him, it’s a good scenario for Arsenal.”

The Aubameyang that helped fire Arsenal to the FA Cup in Mikel Arteta’s first season in charge still hasn’t presented himself since that campaign.

But, one thing is for sure, he is slowly starting to showcase glimpses of his old self, which Arsenal fans can only take positives from.

In truth, he did his job against Palace by opening the scoring, it was the team and the tactics that were a letdown because they allowed Patrick Vieira’s side to dominate and then take the lead.

Alexandre Lacazette did save Arsenal’s blushes towards the end, but even then, they were probably lucky to walk away with a point.
