Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has warned Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour that he “must perform” during his loan spell at Norwich City.

Gilmour has played just six times for Norwich this season, despite some promising performances at Euro 2020 in the summer. Chelsea boss Tuchel has warned Gilmour he must star should he want to break into the Chelsea side.

“First of all I want him to perform. That’s how you make it into our team, you have to perform,” he said via Not The Old Firm.

“If you decide to go on loan, and I don’t mean to be harsh, but you still have to perform.”

The Chelsea bosses comments sound an awful lot like an ultimatum for the young Scot. Perform at Norwich or he may not see himself feature back at Chelsea.

Gilmour’s lack of game time so far does not seem to be helping his case with Tuchel.

“You need to be on the pitch, you need to be the top player, no matter where you go, if you want to make it back here and improve your status,” he said.

Gilmour will be hoping he can gain some much needed minutes in order to show his parent-club what he can do. Indeed, he will want to improve his status in order to play for one of England’s best clubs.

Although, Norwich does not seem to be an easy place to thrive, as they are rock bottom of the Premier League, on just two points.

Though Gilmour was unable to play against his parent club, a 7-0 drubbing at the hands of Chelsea does not bode well for the Canaries. However, if Gilmour were to string together some decent performances he would stand out from the rest of the squad.

Norwich were handed a 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea on Saturday. Mason Mount ran the show, scoring a hat-trick and providing an assist.

Four different Chelsea players got themselves on the scoresheet, including two defenders.

Every single Chelsea starter gained a match rating of eight or above, according to our ratings.

Chelsea will be hoping to maintain this form going into their Carabao Cup game against Southampton in the week.
