Liverpool’s creative plan to solve Mohamed Salah contract saga could suit all parties

The in-form Egyptian winger’s contract expires at the end of next season and he recently stated his desire to spend the rest of his career playing for Liverpool

Liverpool reportedly have a creative plan in order to solve the Mohamed Salah contract saga with a proposal that would suit all the parties involved.

Salah’s current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023 and he is understood to be in talks with the Reds over a new long-term deal.

Recent reports have suggested that he has demanded £500,000-per-week wages as he hopes to become the club’s highest paid player.

However, TEAMtalk report that these wage demands are false, although Salah is hopeful he will be made the club’s top earner when he signs a new deal.

Instead of offering Salah £500,000-per-week wages, Liverpool instead plan on tabling a signing-on fee as part of negotiations.

This would still make Salah the highest earner at the club, with the current best paid player at Anfield reportedly earning around £200,000 a week.

Salah recently revealed he wanted to sign a lifelong contract at the club and said it would be “sad” if he ever had to play against Liverpool in the future.

Speaking to Sky Sports last week, Salah explained: “It does not depend with me, but if you ask me I would love to stay until last day of my football (career).

“But I cannot say much about it, nothing is in my hands. It depends on what the club want, it does not depend on me.

“At the moment, I can’t see myself ever playing against Liverpool. That would make me sad. It’s hard. I don’t want to talk about it but it would make me really sad if I did.

“At the moment I don’t see myself playing against Liverpool but let’s see what will happen in the future.”

Salah’s contract talks come as his form sees him labelled as the “best player in the world” by some Liverpool fans and pundits.

His hat-trick in the 5-0 away win over Manchester United on Sunday took his tally for the season to 15 goals in just 12 matches in all competitions.

He has now scored in 10 consecutive matches, failing to find the back of the net just once, against Burnley back in August.
