Jurgen Klopp confirms he likes reported £35m Liverpool target ‘a lot’

Jurgen Klopp says he likes reported Liverpool transfer target Jarrod Bowen ‘a lot’. The Reds come up against the West Ham player on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp gave a very impressive run-down of West Ham United’s team on Friday. Liverpool travel to East London to play the Hammers this weekend, of course.

And Klopp clearly knows David Moyes’s side inside out – and he’s impressed. There was notable praise for one player in particular, however.

“And took not too long to get there, to show exactly what kind of player he can be in the Premier League as well, made big steps.”

It’s notable because Liverpool supposedly looked at Bowen in the last transfer window. Klopp’s open admiration of the midfielder lends a lot of weight to those reports.

Klopp admires Jarrod Bowen

The Athletic claimed back in July that Liverpool wanted Jarrod Bowen. He’d have cost them around £35m to sign – although, that always seemed a little low.

We did a run-down of why Liverpool would have that interest here. But really, it’s fairly obvious.

Bowen is a hard-working, versatile player who can create chances. He’s a wonderful fit for a Liverpool player and a transfer would make sense.

Especially as Liverpool changed things up a little this season. They’re operating differently on the right flank, where the right-sided midfielder drifts very wide and pushes on.

We think Bowen would suit that role quite nicely. And if Klopp sees him as a good player, no one should be surprised if the Reds make a move at some point.

He’s still only 24, too. Bowen can develop under Klopp and reach new heights. While again, £35m is likely too cheap, the West Ham midfielder is undoubtedly one to watch.
