Report: Chelsea willing to sell £100k-a-week Lampard signing in January, he’s already pushing to leave

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to let a player go in the January transfer window that was signed by ex-manager Frank Lampard.

Hakim Ziyech, who earns £100,000-a-week, completed a move to Stamford Bridge last year from Ajax.

The left-footed winger does have a Champions League medal with the Blues to his name, scoring a couple of goals en route to winning the European trophy last season. However, eight goals and five assists in 49 total Chelsea appearances is underwhelming for someone who moved to London with a glowing reputation.

According to 90min, Ziyech is pushing to move away from Chelsea in the New Year.

It is understood the 28-year-old attacker wants to leave to pursue more regular game time elsewhere as he’s struggling to nail down a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s XI.

The report adds that Chelsea wouldn’t stand in his way of exiting and would consider selling him.

In addition, Bild have reported that German club Borussia Dortmund are interested in taking Ziyech on loan in January.

Ziyech not suiting Chelsea right now

If Ziyech is desperate to leave the Bridge, Chelsea should definitely cash in at the first opportunity. It’s worth noting these are only rumours, though.

The Morocco international has found it difficult so far stringing any real consistency during his Blues career, despite the fact he’s capable of the magnificent with his brilliant skill on the ball.

Jason Cundy claimed this month that he’s not “cutting it” right now in Tuchel’s line-up. Meanwhile, Gabby Agbonlahor was critical of him for a performance in October.

He’s receiving plenty of stick for his individuals performances, some more deserved than others.

If he can recapture his Ajax form, everyone’s perspective on him would change very drastically. Only time will tell if he can carve out a Chelsea career.
