Charles Watts has told his YouTube channel that Arsenal remain hopeful of having midfielder Thomas Partey back in action for the upcoming Liverpool game.

Partey has once again picked up a frustrating knock that has ruled him out of the picture. He hasn’t featured for Ghana in the international break, and Gunners fans are sweating over his fitness again.

However, respected Goal journalist Watts has said that the injury is minor, and Partey could even return for the Liverpool game.

“My understanding of it is that Arsenal are still hoping that he will be available for that Liverpool game, and this is a more precautionary thing that rather a serious injury,” Watts said on YouTube.

Partey has been an influential figure this season for Arsenal. His presence in midfield has helped protect a back four which is looking increasingly better as the weeks go by.

The Ghanaian arrived at The Emirates on deadline day in 2020. Arsenal paid £45m at the time, with Partey said to be on around £200k-a-week.

TBR’s View: Partey needed for Arsenal at Liverpool

If ever there was a game where Arsenal need their best players available, then it’s against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Everyone knows how the Reds play. They’ll be up and at Arsenal and Jordan Henderson and co will want to win the midfield battle. Partey’s presence, quality, and leadership will be needed for the Gunners.

Longer term, it’s vital this injury isn’t anything that’s going to both Partey over the course of the season. He’s too good to keep missing games, and Mikel Arteta will want him fit all year.
