Chelsea teammate not surprised by what Kai Havertz did in Germany’s win over Armenia

Kai Havertz marked his return to international action with a goal as the versatile midfielder showcased his goalscoring instinct in Germany’s 4-1 win over Armenia on Sunday.

As Germany boss Hansi Flick already confirmed before the game, Havertz made the starting line-up against Armenia, having previously missed out in their 9-0 victory over Liechtenstein due to a minor injury.

It took the 22-year-old just 15 minutes to find the net. He opened the scoring with a characteristically composed finish, after making a very good run to the near post.

The former Bayer Leverkusen ace has now had three goals and two assists in eight World Cup qualifying games for Germany.

Like many Chelsea fans, Reece James did not seem surprised by Havertz’s goalscoring display.

“Nothing new,” the right-back wrote in the comment section of Havertz’s Instagram post after the game.

Havertz will soon join Antonio Rudiger, who has left the Germany squad earlier after being suspended for the Armenia clash, in London as Chelsea prepare for a big trip to Leicester City at the weekend.

As it stands, Thomas Tuchel will likely have to rely on Havertz to play the central forward role again, since both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner are still recovering from an ankle and a muscle injury, respectively.
