Back in 2019, Manchester United broke the bank to sign Harry Maguire by making him the most expensive defender in the world.

A year later, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer trusted the former Leicester player and made him the skipper of the Red Devils. This season, the England international has arguably been the worst star for us and reports suggest that the club want to get rid of him.

According to Spanish source, Todo Fichajes, Man Utd want signing of Jules Kounde in order to replace Maguire at Old Trafford. It is claimed that the 20-time English champions could activate the release clause worth £67.8million to lure the Les Bleus star

In the current campaign, Ole’s men have the worst defensive record amongst the top 10 teams in the Premier League. We have conceded 17 goals in 11 outings and have only kept 2 clean sheets.

In the last 4 games, United have let in 11 goals against the likes of Leicester, Liverpool and Manchester United and in all those games, Maguire was extremely poor at the back. No leadership, horrific decision making and even terrible positioning.

The Three Lions defender currently earns around £189,000-a-week and last month, there were reports that he could get a bumper pay rise (The Sun). Taking his current form into consideration, he does not deserve any salary raise.

Kounde won the Europa League in the 2019-20 campaign under Julen Lepetegui and last month, he was part of the victorious French squad that lifted the Nations League trophy. This term, so far, he has helped Sevilla keep 6 clean sheets in 10 La Liga appearances.

In your view, should Man Utd sign the 23-year-old star in order to replace their skipper?
