The 2021/22 season is proving to be one of the toughest in Barcelona’s recent history. Owing to many injuries and overall poor luck, the Catalans have underperformed. Capitalising on this situation, the Blaugrana have made proper use of youth, all of whom they plan on renewing.

In a recent report relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Barça are planning on the renewal of Pablo Gavi. The 17-year-old has enjoyed a fantastic campaign so far with the garnet and blue. The club wants to reward his brilliance with a contract extension.

Him being a young player, money is not the most important thing in the equation. The player does not seem to be influenced by how much he earns. As such, for Barcelona, listening to contract proposals has been reasonably easy.

Ivan De La Peña, his representative, has had his first contact with the club to discuss his renewal. Joan Laporta and co. plan on extending his contract till the summer of 2023 when he will be 19-years-old. They have adequately discussed this, and there are so far few complications.

Barcelona have no time to waste. They know that clubs like Chelsea are on the lookout for Gavi, and any delay would be an incentive for them to pounce.

As it stands, Gavi’s release clause is at €50 Million. Usually, that would seem high, but given his present-day abilities and his age, it would not be the toughest of investments for other European clubs to make.
