Arsenal look set for a very bright future, but only if they can continue to make impressive signings in the transfer window.

That is the view of former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino, who has told talkSPORT that Mikel Arteta’s side could compete for major honours thanks to their ‘exciting players’.

Whilst they came away with nothing against Manchester City on Saturday, the Gunners were very impressive for large parts of their contest against the Champions and runaway leaders.

Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe are all excelling in the early stages of their development and Cascarino reckons they could form a side who could start to challenge City, Chelsea and Liverpool for titles.

“If Arsenal this summer have another good recruitment summer where they bring in new players, two or three, imagine how good they can be next year?” Cascarino told talkSPORT.

“For me they are one transfer away from having a side that is capable of challenging and getting close because they have a lot of exciting players.”

The Gunners were the biggest spenders in the 2021 summer transfer window having produced a net spend of over £120million.

Given the finances that should be available to Arteta in the 2022 January window through owner Stan Kroenke, the future looks very exciting for Arsenal who could be ending their long awaited drought for a Premier League title.
