MIKEL ARTETA has the basis of a hugely exciting squad at Arsenal.

Arsenal can become Premier League title contenders in the next two or three years if they recruit wisely in a couple of areas. Mikel Arteta made six signings in the summer transfer window and they have all had a positive start to life at the Emirates. Arteta and technical director Edu are forming a successful relationship in terms of bringing in the right players.
Arsenal have a youthful squad and it is no surprise they average the youngest starting XI in the Premier League this season.

In fact, according to Transfermarkt, they have fielded the 17 youngest line-ups seen in the English top flight this term.

So it is some achievement for Mikel Arteta’s side to sit in fourth place heading into the second-half of the campaign.

They have plenty of competition for the final Champions League qualification spot but proved against Manchester City on Saturday that they can compete with the best.

There are always going to be inconsistencies with a young team but the longer they play together, the better they will become.

Arteta has picked the same team for five of the last six league matches, only making a Covid-enforced change in the 5-0 win at Norwich.

The team is gelling and most Arsenal fans will be happy with the majority of players Arteta is picking.

Aaron Ramsdale has proven to be one of the signings of 2021 in goal.

At 23, he is destined to be an England regular at some point in his career.

The defence has been a lot more solid of late. Takehiro Tomiyasu has been a sensation at right-back and Kieran Tierney is getting back to his best after a dodgy start to the season.

Ben White improves every game that he plays and is starting to prove why he cost £50million.

Gabriel had a moment of stupidity on Saturday when he got sent off against City. He’ll know he let his team down.

At just 24, he is seen as one of the senior members of the side already. But after just 18 months in English football, there is plenty of promise in the Brazilian.
