Man City may have to pay between £62.7m and £75.2m for 21 y/o with 125 goals

Manchester City are keen on signing Erling Haaland to replace Sergio Aguero but will have stiff competition for the 21-year-old given his fine form at Borussia Dortmund. Despite how many clubs are expected to make a move, Mario Cortegana of Marca (h/t Sport Witness) says Haaland is awaiting an approach from defending champions when this season comes to a close.

Haaland is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe and will have an affordable release clause that comes into play at the end of the campaign, so City should be one of many clubs making an official bid. The Norwegian international, who boasts 12 goals in 15 games for his country, will be available for €75m-€90m (£62.7m-£75.2m) – arguably a bargain given his potential.

Haaland’s career began at Bryne, but he made a name for himself after joining Molde in 2017. The 21-year-old scored 20 goals with six assists in 50 games and caught the attention of Red Bull Salzburg. Haaland bagged 29 goals with seven assists in 27 games before joining Dortmund and he hasn’t looked back.

After 75 games with BVB, Haaland has 76 goals and 20 assists. He’s one of the best strikers money can buy and still has a decade and more ahead of him. It’s easy to see why City are keen but big clubs will want Haaland when his release clause is active.
